As a huge fan of acoustic folk music ala Jars of Clay and Caedmon's Call, I have to admit my biases up front and say that I am not a huge fan of soul music. Judged in terms of quality and a replacement for secular soul music, though, this one was a real stand-out because it has everything you would ever want - minus the subtle sexual references and other innuedos.

There's some great soulful singing here, with drum loops and other staples of the genre. Most importantly, the lyrics are right on: about making prayerful decisions, moral choices, and looking to God for the naswers instead of the world. The style is mearly a delivery mechanism for a biblical sound message.

Christian music provides alternatives, and I believe that is a biblical concept. Instead of removing something completely, we should provide healthy replacements.
